    In simple terms, what is source code?

    whenever some program is created, some language is used at the backend to give it some GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE. So suppose if you're looking at MSN messenger, it might have been created in VISUAL BASIC. So, by asking for the source code, you are indirectly asking the PROGRAMMER to give u the code so u can put that in Visual basic, and try to understand how it works.

    When you write a program in whatever language, source code is the stuff that YOU write.
