I've been on a computer since I was 7. I've always been fascinated with programming. I come here with almost 0 experience in programming. Please help me pick a program and start learning it. I heard most people start the basics with Microsoft visual c++. I have access to Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 and a book, from my friend. These things cost a lot. So do you guys think it's ok for me to start from Visual C and the 6th version?

Any recommendations to get me started?

My experience with computers: Learned the basics of Visual Basic around 5 years ago. Don't remember too much. Some experience with Microsoft Access.

    Thank you in advance.
