It's essential to build a good link popularity for your site's Page Rank. I use: http://tools.marketleap.com/publinkpop/ to check my site's link popularity daily. I hope this is a useful tool for you
Yeah its one of the great tool I refer too but I dont prefer checking daily as its waste of time as the links reflected in there does not change daily but they are probably updated quarterly for google.
I have a problem checking my stats, adsense, link popularity daily... I guess it's because I want to see my site get popular... It's great that they show which search engines pick up the link backs to your site!
They cannot show if the SE dont show in the normal SERP's and backlinks for google are now updated almost every quarter.
It has been observed that PR/Backlinks that are shown to the users are updated every 3 months and not regularly. Of course the real PR and real backlinks that are used for SERP are much of an up to date.
With regards to Google backlinks, if you have a Google account you can now see not only who links to you but what the links say if they are text links. Simply go to http://www.google.com/webmasters/ and select "webmaster tools" From here you can see the recently added links tab where you can look at who links to your site. This is a much more complete list of links than a regular "link:" query. Also, just recently added is that you can now see the text found on the links. Go to "Page Analysis" found in the Statistics tab and you will see not only text in your site's content but also the text found in the external links pointing to your site. This is a very handy tool - not only to see who links to you but I'd imagine you could use it to more closely guage what links Google will consider as important, as well as how often they are updated in the "link:" query.
The new SEO moz tool is great for SEO and testing a few metric around link building. It here http://www.opensiteexplorer.org worth using
I can not open http://tools.marketleap.com/publinkpop/ ,but thank you textlinks.webmaster tool really works well.
Yeah webmaster tool defines everything what going for your site , from where you getting back links, who and when visit your site so its a great and essential tool for checking the status for your site. And one more thing to streling45 the tool you mentioned here (http://tools.marketleap.com/publinkpop/ ) is not working.
The original posting was back in 2006 and it has already been observed in earlier posts that the link no longer works. If you look at the profile of the OP you will see that they haven't been back to this forum since then so I don't think they are going to answer you If you want a backlink checker the best option for your own site is Google Webmaster Tools. If you want to look at the links to other sites just do a Google search for "backlink checker".
