help for my next goal

I have decided to join some local institue to learn the designing. They have different courses like:

1. animation
2. designing
3. maya

soem different stuffs,
i wanna learn the graphic side. What would ya recommend me? I am most likely gonna use my knowledge for website banners and designing and stuffs u know. So give me some advice.
