I am a beginning Java programmer and am trying to create a College Football Program as my senior project.

I was going to have a 32 team playoff bracket. For the simulation I was going to rank all 120 teams and then by going by that number use this equation, .84x=% of winning and the lower team would be 100%-% of winning. By using these numbers a team would be choosen as the winner and move on in the bracket.

I need to know how to assingn the team names to a number so I can have the rankings in the program. I then need to also know how to use the equation to figure out the odds of the winner. I think I could create the bracket and team slection drop list on my own but if someone could help me with that too it would be great. I really have no clue how to start so any help would be greatly appreciated.
