OK we all know that Google PR doesn't mean so much any more, and I am not looking for a debate about what everyone thinks of PR, that has been done many times already, so please no comments about it being a waste of time etc etc and it is only SERP and traffic that matters.
This is purely a topic for those who do look at their PR, to discuss who is happy with the update this week and who is not, and what they think has perhaps happened to influence their current PR since the last update.

The home page of my main site has remained at the PR4 it went up to in the November update, but all my internal information pages have had an increase, so that of the 21 I have, 9 are PR3 and 12 are PR2.
My site is for real estate, and I have around 180 pages of adverts. What has been interesting for me is that many of those now have PR1 or PR2 whereas none of them had any PR before. I will need to be careful now when I dete adverts for sold homes, so that I use redirects to preserve that PR.
My secondary site was only launched last November and is now PR3 with all ınternal pages having PR2, so over the two sites I have to be happy with this update.
I have added a couple of pages to my main site since the last update, but other than that all my efforts have been in off-page.
In addition to the menu, I have internal text links on every page pointing to every other page, and I am sure that has helped the ranking of my internal pages.

I don't think many experience webmasters now track Google toolbar PR.

You are right Shabbir it is hardly of any use these days. What i believe in SEO is not the page rank but the conversion rate which enhance due to organic SEO techniques.

With respect, I began the thread by saying:

"OK we all know that Google PR doesn't mean so much any more, and I am not looking for a debate about what everyone thinks of PR, that has been done many times already,
so please no comments about it being a waste of time etc etc and it is only SERP and traffic that matters."

If anyone isn't interested in PR that's fair enough, I did not set out to argue for its value. What it has always been is a measure of the authority of backlinks to a site. We know that Google has long sinced dropped PR as it's sole ranking mechanism, but backlinks are important in terms of SERP and if PR is a measure of backlinks then I can't see that it is not one of the relevant factors.
There are threads on every forum about it, so although many webmasters may dismiss it, many do not. Google continues to produce these updates and I would it find strange that they would bother if they served no purpose at all. For those actively involved in link building, it is the only measurement that Google provides as a guide to the potential value of a link.

Sometimes when I read comments, I do question myself, and that is part of the reason why I use forums.
Beliefs need to be questioned and evidenced or they remain simply as beliefs.
Personally I find PR useful, but I respect that there are other opinions so I wanted to check what Google currently says about it, relative to what I said in the quote above. This is what I found:

    From the Google Toolbar page:

"Pause your cursor over the PageRank button to display the importance of the webpage you're viewing, according to Google.
Webpages with a higher PageRank are more likely to appear at the top of Google search results.
To learn more, see the Technology Overview."

    (source: http://support.google.com/toolbar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=79837)

    Extract from the Technology Overview:

"When Google was founded, one key innovation was PageRank, a technology that determined the “importance” of a webpage
by looking at what other pages link to it, as well as other data.
Today we use more than 200 signals, including PageRank, to order websites, and we update these algorithms on a weekly basis."

    (source: http://www.google.com/about/company/tech.html)

There is nothing in the above statements from Google which would lead me to want to change the above quote from my earlier posting.

That is an obvious and unhelpful statement. The point of the thread is to discuss the reasons why.
