After struggling with XUL for about a week, I am finally ready with me very own "G4EF Toolbar for Firefox 1.5+".    Here is a preview : Please, don't LOL at the boring skin or the limited number of features. ... I am a newbie to XUL and CSS. Currently, the toolbar is in Ver.0.35 and here is the list of features : (1) Searches G4EF for matching threads, basically the same as the Google Search-box you see above. (2) Searches G4EF for members by their usernames. Now, this one uses some trick to do that. It will return a single result -- the URL of the member's profile, if found. (3) Has links to ALL the forums, sub-forums etc... (4) Direct link to Today's Posts and Unanswered posts. (5) Direct link to the $1 Contest forum. So, you can virtually navigate the WHOLE G4EF with this toolbar only. (But, it can't log you in) I am trying to implement the log in feature in this toolbar. But, the problem is your username and password will be stored in plain-text and so can be easily read. If you like the toolbar, I can provide you with the XPI file [It's 10KB only !] Constructive suggestions are always welcome I forgot to add the "About" dialog :p Anyway, the toolbar always displays my name, as you can see
@shabbir: I don't know if something like this : a toolbar or FF extension etc.. already exists. Does it ?? If no, then do you like this one ?? If yes, then please tell me about it ..
well whats the xpi? i would like giving it a try...send it to me... will see and give you a proper comment and what it needs etc etc... bravo saswat, good job... ps - i didnt find any toolbar so its cool
@ SaswatPadhi Hey Buddy, Cool Man, now I came to know why you were asking about the data you want of G4EF Very well work though you think you are newbie....Good work buddy, keep it up All The Best.
Looks good and we had nothing much like this and would like to see if it uses Google Search or Forum Search as I am not sure if we can use Google Search like this when it comes to Google Terms
Google Custom Search Results cannot be linked to as they are against the terms of Google and so I think this should not be allowed
OK. The wait is over .... Here is version 1.0 of the G4EF Toolbar Download link for G4EF_Toolbar.xpi :: http://www.box.net/shared/q35ke7ob2i PLEASE GIVE FEEDBACK.
FYI - After downloading, open the file from firefox, install it and restart the firefox - Bingo! We have our own G4EF Toolbar!!!
(1) Thanx for the feedback and suggestion MayJune (2) Thanx everyone for the reputation added. (3) Thanx for rating this thread as ***** @ MayJune: I have implemented the tabbed-browsing feature. Will be uploading new version 2morrow morning. @ shabbir Have you tried it yet ?? If yes, then how is it ? Thanx SASWAT
