Why am I not able to edit my unix file though i have the permissions -rwxrwxrwx?
You may not have the permission on the folder
its not a folder its a file, try this in your command line.
#chmod 777 filename
The file already has 777 and still if he is not able to edit the file means that the user trying to edit the file is not having the permission on the folder.
what am i thinking..
maybe he should change the folder permission to 777 then
First see in which usergroup you belong...the permissions which u are showing is incomplete..please post the complete string....
The directory or folder inside which you have that file, may not have write permission. You should change the permission for your directory.
