I want to create an application in VC++ for Windows Xp to windows 7 that would allow me to check if a given IP and port is a proxy server or not. I read somewhere that you can try opening a socket to the proxy server IP to see if its active but opening a socket does not necessarily mean its a proxy server. anyone have any clues or ideas to allow me to determine with certainty if the url and port is a proxy server ? thanks, elmanl
