Spinners is a good idea but article spinning is not so prevalent in SEO nowadays. Moreover new algorithm has clearly mentioned it that there will no spinning and if practiced consequences will be fatal.
While I certainly agree that the days of effectively submitting articles to thousands of directories is over, I think that a well spun article can still effectively produce 50-100 backlinks which is well worth it when you have enough articles.
