I know that toolbar page rank is of not that important but the amount of emails that I get asking for the when the toolbar page rank update will take place made me to think that I should write a small write up about the updates that I followed and share with you all. Whats what I have tracked for Toolbar Pagerank Update as well as Backlinks update and I would like to share what are those. From the Search Engine Optimization FAQ's. Page Rank : PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other pages "important." Important, high-quality sites receive a higher PageRank, which Google remembers each time it conducts a search. Of course, important pages mean nothing to you if they don't match your query. So, Google combines PageRank with sophisticated text-matching techniques to find pages that are both important and relevant to your search. Google goes far beyond the number of times a term appears on a page and examines all aspects of the page's content (and the content of the pages linking to it) to determine if it's a good match for your query.Backlink: Backlinks are incoming links to a website or web page. The number of backlinks is an indication of the popularity or importance of that website or page. In basic link terminology, a backlink is any link received by a web node (web page, directory, website, or top level domain) from another web node (Björneborn and Ingwersen, 2004). Backlinks are also called incoming links, inbound links, inlinks, and inward links. Now coming back to the topic of the article. Yes I firmly believe that proper backlinks adds to the prospect of having a better Page Rank in Google. And the best way to check for your backlinks is to click on the arrow that is besides your PR bar.It gives you three options a)Related Pages b)Cached Snapshot c)Backlinks.Click on the third options to find out the numbers. Moreover the PR of any website is based on a simple formula. One could manually calculate it or use a SEO calculator. The formula is as follows. The Page Rank Of A Website depends solely on your inboud links. The PageRank of a website is calculated with the help of the following equation: PR(A)=(1-d)+(PR OF LINK PAGE 1*D/NO OF LINKS IN PAGE1)+ (PR OF LINK PAGE 2*D/NO OF LINKS IN PAGE2)+.....+(PR OF LINK PAGE P*D/NO OF LINKS IN PAGE P). Where A,is your website D is a damping factor =0.85 link page 1,2...,P are the pages that has a link pointing to your website and can be found out by conducting a search on google with link:www.website.com.

Can I ask a question? why is it every 1st week of the month my site rank very low, but in the previous rank let say 3rd week the rank was high; especially when I rank it in Google Australia.
Google is always changing and so if there is some ups and down in ranking its nothing unusual and keep on working on your core.
