So I am trying to prove to my admin that our emails that we host are at risk. Currently our mail supports no form of encryption. That being said I have already demonstrated that using wireshark on the network IS able to capture packets that retain in plain text the content of my email. He said to me that it was ok because you cannot just capture packet if you are not on the network.

I want to prove to him that someone could. I feel that all I need to do is find a set up that allows my home PC to monitor the IP address of the mail server and potentially just sniff packets that are outbound from the server. Is there a direction I can take to achieve this??

Thanks for you help in advance,

    The Ranish
