Hi, I am getting very offensive emails from sumone who apprently knows alot abot me which is emotionally distracting me. I only have an email address of that person. Is there possible if I can find an IP address from an email? I dont want to report to cops just yet. I just want to see if the person is in North America or outside the country because cops usually dont deal anybody outside Canada. any help or advice will be greatly appreicated!! thnx
Just check for the HEADERS of email received where you can get the Originated IP information, later use WHOIS tools to know the location of that IP address..
if you wanna find out some more info on the person sending you the emails then you should put there ip through a whois search. here is a link. just type in the ip and it will tell you quite a bit. http://tools.whois.net/whoisbyip/
thnx guys !! that really helped - at least i know its not the person i was suspecting. I just need an advice should i try to find out more about this person or should i go through the cops?? Obviously its someone i Know because they know alot about me. If i want to find out more about this person how can I do it? any ideas?i only know his/her email address. Thnx again!:pleased:
try this http://www.geobytes.com/ipLocator.htm it might give you some info to help you refine your search for the guy. also if the emails are like death threats or something like that then you should go to the cops. if it is just annoying crap, then i might hold off on calling in the heavys.
