If your pc is slow with XP then I would suggest you should look at your pc rather than the operating system. If it cannot cope properly with such an old operating system it may be time for a new or upgraded pc.

XP has been out of date for a long time now, and I am not sure whether Microsoft is still supporting it with updates. But XP had far less system requirements than Vista or Windows 7 and if your PC is struggling with it then you are asking an impossible question.

You can try this it has proved beneficial many times

Go to System Properties -- > Advanced -- > Click on Settings in the Performance Group --> and Select Adjust for Best Performance..and then click apply or close...

It will speed up your computer and give you better performance..

a computer will not be work that fast unless you have that good specs build inside your box. i recommend adding some Ram if your short on budget, this will increase your computers performance a bit. also try scanning your computer for malicious software running as it might cause your computer working slow.

I don't know how successful this is, but apparently you can use a USB memory stick to increase the virtual RAM memory when running XP.
The full instructions can be found here:
    http://www.instructables.com/id/Use-your-USB-flash-drive-as-virtual-RAM/
(If you click on the button to "View all steps" you may find it easier to follow, as the instructions will then be all on one page).
I haven't tried this myself, (I remembered reading about it some time ago and looked it up again) so as I said at the start, I don't know how well it works but it may be worth a try.

Just wanted to share what I am doing to my computer to make it work as it is supposed to.
I have Avast, Malwarebytes and Ccleaner running on my computer to protect and clean my computer.
