I think that this is something that is often forgotten (or not realized) judging by some comments that are posted in different threads. I get the impression that some believe that Google has millions of people poring over websites, reading their content and making judgements Their machines can recognize all kinds of things but cannot read as a human can. That is why they use backlinks (i.e. other humans voting for the quality of a website) as a measure of a site's authority. Google bots don't know if information given on a site is accurate.
