    Can you tell me on which basis Google provides Page Rank? And, how can I increase page rank for the web site?

    i have read a long time ago that not even people from google don't know exactly how their system works. it is a game of guessing and taking chances after all!

    the criteria has been always the same in the major points:
    backlinks, SEM and a lot of content that is not only "copy/paste"

    Hi,
    There is an algorithm of Google which decides the page rank of a website and modify it time to time. The algorithm is called as Panda Algorithm. It decides the page rank and also the place of a website in SERP ranking.

    Google only look after backlinks if it is good then you will get good page rank

    Google's criteria for page rank is high quality backlink..keep unique and fresh content for your site and doing blog posting on regularly bases will defiantly increase your site page rank...

    yeah but you have to remember that google uses boots not real people so....quality is easy avoided :P

    I think that this is something that is often forgotten (or not realized) judging by some comments that are posted in different threads. I get the impression that some believe that Google has millions of people poring over websites, reading their content and making judgements :) Their machines can recognize all kinds of things but cannot read as a human can. That is why they use backlinks (i.e. other humans voting for the quality of a website) as a measure of a site's authority. Google bots don't know if information given on a site is accurate.
