Can no-follow link give backlink?

Please tell me something about no-follow link. is it useful or not regarding seo?

Nofollow links are of no use from the seo point of view because Google does not transfer any page rank juice across these links. So they send traffic to your site but don't get any page rank juice to your web page.

Thanks, I read the link you shared but I am still bit of confused regarding the use of nofollow links, will it be useful to get a link back with nofollow tag from other site? or we should avoid? It is ok with comment posts generated by users but what about directories or forums links?

No-follow links can't give your site backlink.

 

According to Google Webmaster guidelines and Matt Cutts, nofollow links help search engines to determine whether a link should be followed or credit the link or not. So in some case having nofollow tag in the link and not having the link is same. So nofollow links should not treated as proper backlink in the eye of search engines.
My suggestion is to create great high quality contents which will attract other webmasters in similar niche and they will refer your website some times. Search engines love natural links. Also try article submission to good neighborhood blogs.

 

No follow is the value that is given to attribute called rel of a tag. By valuing the element search engine not follow that link.

 

you take backlink from both no follow or do follow sites as will get traffic and backlink both.

 

In no follow link it is indicated by the name that not to follow this type of link, that means it is not useful regarding SEO. No follow link is only used to redirect to a URL but the value of the page redirected does not increases.

no follow link will not pass pr juice but i seen many times in google backlink nofollow link for my site also for my competitor site so i think google still count it somewhat valuable

 

I don't think so that Google count no follow links as a back links because Google is not accepting no follow links and you can't get the PR juice with the no follow links.

Nofollow might not give/show PR but it does certainly help in the ranking

 

I'm totally surprised by all the bad advice given in this thread. How could you ever think it doesn't help in the rankings lol. Google wants a natural backlinkprofile. Imagine you have 100 backlinks from huge authority site and they are all No-Follow, you seriously think you won't rank cause of that??? Time to dive into the study books again folks cause you got a lot to learn about SEO. It's good that this forum is about programming mainly and not about seo cause you would have received a lot more critical comments.

 

Well said shabbir there is not any method to prove is website will rank with all no follow links. And about nofollow links they don't give the backlink but still they help to give traffic. And yahoo consider nofollow links also as our back link.

 

There is not difference or problem with do follow and no follow. Do follow helps in getting ranking but no follow give you only traffic so that way both are useful
