Hi all.... As it is known that alexa gives ranks based on the web traffic a site receives.....but how much accurate is that site ranking?
Traffic ranking is fishy and inaccurate at times. In fact, it’s probably most accurate for the top 100,000 websites because these sites are generally popular anyway. However, it should not be relied on so much for website.so the,Alexa ranking not the 100% correct.
No not even reliable for 100k sites and I know for sure because my sites that get higher traffic is ranked lower than the one that gets more traffic. It depends on the niche. Site with lot of webmaster as your audience is bound to get higher alexa as they are the only ones who uses the Alexa toolbar.
It uses the alexa toolbar to make the stats, so all data come from users with that toolbar installed. This is not accurate at all.
Hi all, Alexa, owned by Amazon, does not provide information about their total population of toolbar users, but an analysis of Alexa data reveals this information by other means. Alexa claims to have had over 10 million downloads since the Toolbar's inception, but this provides an exaggerated picture of the toolbar's user population. One of the two breakdowns of traffic is the Alexa Reach Rank, which purports to show the number of users per 1 million that access the site in a given period. Alexa provides reach rank data for the day, previous week, and previous three months.
