Hosting??? I think a good uptime is important. That way if you make some really large graphics or something then you can get them on there quiker. But, I also like a decent down speed as well. That way if anybody wants to download the graphic or vid from your site then it will eb alot faster. Anything to add?

I would prefer the balance of 2 uptime and speed. No one go without the other. If you have 100%uptime but not good speed you can be doing average and vice versa.

I would suggest also to check for webspace, support, upgradation, rates, hosting company's reputation in market.

Not bad option harry smith but I guess reputation is the least I would prefer because you don't tend to have lots of money involve in hosting this days. If you are going for some dedicated server buying then you should be going for them.

hay shabbir, for shared hosting also i would prefer a good repuated host as that can reflect on my ranking and traffic (eg. bad neighbour)..... and changing host is appreciate.

Bad neighbourhood does not effect ranking/traffic because SE ranks pages and not ip's

That what I did not mean. If you host on a webserver that has a bad reputation then also you dont link to sites having illegal content.

Also this is a very debatable question that a site having illegal content if linked will be banned. Say a person comes to this forum and makes some really good posts and linking his sites that has some bad content in sig. That is not illegal and do you think G4EF should be banned. Its not just about linking but how the linking goes.

Say if he links from the homepage or pages with more relevancy and regular update he may have some problems but I am not sure he can be banned.
