Just try to run the disk cleanup wizard and see if it helps

it may be due to some viruses. download the Tuneup utilities and run Disk doctor(use thorough analysis). Ur problem will get cleared.

I tried the given solutions but failed. but I haved dleted every folder with $ sign as told by my friend this resulted in size reduction to 2.56 GB and no harm to windows performance. now I have seen little deeper. there are 1350 DLL and 350 EXE files in system 32 folder. Anti virus is showing them ok. there is folder in windows named software distribution with size 580 MB. plz guide further

Its better not to touch C:\ drive , since it has the system files. U can view the file distributions by the same tuneup utils. run disk space explorer and find out which file is occupying more space.
