help my pc wont start

    hello every one ive got a big problem i bought a new laptop and decided to clean up my old pc and give it to kids as an extra christmas gift . but what ever ive done when i turn it on now a little white bar flashes on corner of screen and the rest is just black . it wont let me go into safe mode but if im fast enough it allows me to go into a phonex bios utility menu thing. please can any1 help

    i got to go to bed now people but if any1 can help me they could put it in this thread and i will get it tomorrow please and thanks guys it will make my kids christmas aswell cheers.

    There are 2 things that can be wrong. Hard Disk or the Display.

    hello sorry im only back on line now through my laptop so its a hard drive prob or display what do i do next thanks.

    Remove your display chord and see the message flashed.Does it show you the same white mark or is anything different flashes.If that is the case then place the chord firmly and your problem will be solved.Check the entire connection.

    theres lots of symptoms and sometimes can be determined through different type of beeps assigned for errors. try listening on its beeps

    I think your RAM have some problem.

    u can check the bios.....if there is any way to connect the PC to a separate display u could try that to rule out the display as a cause.....it could be the cord connecting your monitor to the pc.

    if this is a desktop its extremely rash to say that this is a RAM or a hard drive problem......a malfunctioning display isnt something to lose too much sleep over....especially on a desktop system
