Any of you programmers here can tell me whether an assignment like programming a simulation of optical photons entering muon-induced neutron detector using the UNIX can be given in the pre-college level? Or is it more like a college level programming assignment? I am a highschool student and I am curious if I will ever get these kind of assignments in my class because I heard a friend of mine saying she had done it but I do not see how it is possible they gave out assignment like these in highschool. So is it possible? Or is my friend just bragging? Its kind of a random question but I can't really think of a better place to ask it ^^; thanks. :)

Ask him to show the project, does not look to be a precollege level project.
