I will suggest you to read Forger's tutorial first http://www.winprog.org/tutorial. Its awesome. Then go for charles petzold's classic book on win32 programming.

charles petzold is very good book for windows programmers...It is also very easy to understand for the beginners.

Petzold all the way for learning Windows programming. Can't be beat.

 

"Win32 programming" i have a release from 1998 but not good without its CD
"Windows Programming, 5th edition" till now its a fine book
