Okay...after talking with 12 different technicians and undergoing 8 system recoveries it looks like the only way I can install SP2 (Service Pack 2) without the PC failing is to create a new PC... So, the question is, how do I get Visual C++ 2005 onto Windows XP SP1? Is there a way I can hack into the installation file? Is there a version for SP1 on some secret "Obi Wan Kenobi hermit" website? Yoda I must know this How do I defeat the lack of backwards compatibility provided by the Dark Forces of Microsoft?
I am sure you can install the SP2 provided you install the XP once again which has the SP2 integrated. I just fell into the same problem that SP2 does not get installed and I cannot install the MS VC 2005 unless I have SP2. I tried switching to 2k3 at that time but then it became too slow to work and then switched backed to XP but the CD had the SP2 and now its working perfectly fine.
You should have an alternate HD for some backups. I normally have used that for quite sometime because HD can crash at some point of time.
yeah I'm only 16 so I have to get my moms permission to buy the parts for a new PC...no point in buying a harddrive for an obsolete PC that has only a PCI slot, onboard 1.4 ghz processor, and 2 128 mb ram slots...
