where to start?

I would like to become an ethical hacker but I dont know where to start. What languages should I learn first? what is the best compiler to use, I dont mind paying for it as long as it is a good program? what are some good websites to learn hacking? Thanks.

Ok, you will need Linux, I prefer to use Kubuntu 7, but there are many flavours and you can choose from each, but to start with I suggest you use Kubuntu or Fedora. Follow this link to download the complete boot up CD for Kubuntu: http://www.kubuntu.com/download.php and for fedora: http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mj...ad-fedora.html then you will need lots of tools to atart with which you can get from this site: http://www.packetstormsecurity.org and then you will see at the top of this forum there is a sticky note with all the other cool sites. But before you get any other tools get Cain & Abel from: http://www.oxid.it this will help you lots.

Re: where to start?

THC Hydra, Airodump, aircrack, aireplay, and SATAN and SAINT all work on linux, and those are all of the best hacking tools, not only that, linux is up to a very high degree basically immune to virusses and not only that, it is a very customizable OS, did you ever try kubuntu, not ubuntu but jubuntu, that OS had all my drivers for my laptop, I made a partition one for windows and one for linux, linux is the smaller partition. It had my ATI X700, Bluetooth, wireless, PCMCIA, USB and all the drivers for any device I stuck in there. I use alot of my tools on windows but the best of them all with the most functionality works only on linux but with very good results. For beginners linux is difficult to understand but once you have it gripped its worth it! Ask anyone here about THC Hydra, that is a very very very powerful cracking tool.
