side by side problem

hello

i wrote a little program with vs2005 standard Edition, it works fine on my computer. But when i gave it to my friends they run into this problem.

"This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

I have been spending the past month searching online for a solution. I have found a lot of posts regarding to this issue, it appears that a lot of people have the same problem. I have tried all the hacks mentioned in the posts with no avail. It seems to me that no body really knows what they are doing, (including microsoft themselves)

from my research, this seems to be a side by side issue. My question is (since this place is called codeguru) does anybody know definitively how to solve this problem.

thank you very much ahead of time.

If you are giving him as exe then it will have no issue.

It will not be there. First when you are going for a programm just make sure all configuration of Visual studio is the same as for your friend also.

say to your friend to install a redistribution setup of vs 2005 " vcredist_x86.exe".

then told her to install this exe" vcredist_x86.exe".

It's free available to msdn.
