Facebook deleting fake "likes"
Many people have been trumpeting the importance of social media, whereas others have pointed out that it is open to manipulation.
I saw an article on the BBC news website today: http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-19741484 Facebook had already admitted that millions of their accounts were fake, and now it seems that they are perhaps going further with the information they have gained and are deleting fake `likes`. With this in mind, are social signals going to be as reliable and as important as some have previously thought? |
Re: Facebook deleting fake "likes"
Those big looking count numbers is what people run after and so steps like this will help show the real picture.
Similar things have been proposed on twitter as well like instead of follower count they also plan to have active follower count but then that is also not something real in numbers when it comes to social power. Ideally it should be the active users who see the tweet and act upon. http://mashable.com/2012/09/25/twitter-follower-count/ Social media marketing is more about making those counter better but those who run after numbers don't understand few dedicated users are far better than thousands of users for getting better counters. On top of that it will make those $5 for 1000 FB likes fiverr user life miserable. |
Re: Facebook deleting fake "likes"
But for some people quantity is more important than quality. And then at the end, they dont get desired result as only fake people are following there twitter profile/FB page.

My own thought is that the whole social media thing is over-rated, at least when it comes to helping commercial sites. |
Re: Facebook deleting fake "likes"
Yes that is true. And it is good for business pages. Just true likes van be coverted to consumers.

Re: Facebook deleting fake "likes"
I think it is a good step to delete all fake and spam likes and i think Facebook should banned their ID's.

Re: Facebook deleting fake "likes"
Identical factors have been suggested on tweets as well like instead of fan depend they also strategy to have effective fan depend but then that is also not something actual in figures when it comes to public energy. Preferably it should be the effective customers who see the tweets and act upon.. .. .
