Yes you can break Wi-Fi connection with the help of backtrack but only if it is only a WAP connection. Any other secured setting cannot be penetrated using backtrack.

Unless brute force attacking the network's password. I believe there is also a recent add-on you can install on backtrack that is useful for this.
Make sure you only use these tools in a pen testing / ethical hacking capacity, and only on a willing victim.
