HP Omni 100 - Desktop PC Review
Are you going to buy a desktop PC? Well, then you might get surprised in this $600 package. Not actually $600 the prices of HP Omni PCs are in between $600. Means you are getting the best desktop PC according to today’s market in this low budget PC! Some of us already have a laptop or notebook and now some of you are looking for a desktop PC, but when you are going to purchase a desktop PC so it’s better to take a stable and hi config PC. HP Omni gives you HD display, huge capacity of storage, bigger memory (RAM) and some cool features like ATI graphics etc. So, probably this is the best cheap desktop ever!
Like the Apple iMac, the Omni 100 is a screen suspended by an arm with a single tilt point. Unlike the iMac, which is made of aluminum, the Omni is made of black plastic. The Omni 100 has adequate, built-in speakers, six USB 2.0 ports, a 6-in-1 digital media card reader, a Webcam, Ethernet port, and audio ports on the system. The system’s widescreen has a 16:9 aspect ratio and 1,600-by-900 resolution—not quite 1080p “True HD” but enough to display 720p online videos and 480p videos from DVDs.
Regarding speed, the HP Omni 100 PCs contains energy-efficient dual-core AMD Athlon II X2 260u processor. It provides acceptable performance for most desktop tasks; and without getting warm enough to require noisy cooling fans. The processor is paired with an AMD 880G motherboard chipset, with an integrated ATI Radeon HD 4270 graphics processor. The rest of the specification includes 3GB (4 GB Optional) of DDR3 RAM, a spacious 500 GB (1 TB Optional) hard disk and a DVD writer. The 500GB hard drive provides plentiful storage space for multimedia files and is also quite fast thanks to the 7200RPM speed instead of the 5400RPM speed found on many other budget PCs. Media encoding tasks were done with good speed, but not the best and that's expected because the Omni 100-5050 isn't a powerhouse PC. For the usual computing tasks, this PC did a good job at keeping up and keeping things moving. Because of the integrated graphics processor, don't expect to play any 3D, graphics-intensive games because this PC can't handle it, like Call of Duty Black Ops or Modern Warefare II etc.
As compared to HP Omni’s price, this is quite good PC but not enough for high ambitious persons who deserves to play HD videos, 3D games like CoD Black Ops etc. Also like most all-in-one PCs, there are no ports to output video to a TV or projector, so you will be unable to use it with your TV or with a projector for official purpose. Also this PC doesn't have Wi-Fi, so you will be unable to connect to internet using Wi-Fi if you are in Wi-Fi covered area. These was the main bad parts of this PC but if we look at our normal jobs like surfing, blogging, playing music in one word the normal desktop jobs are suitable for this PC. Also it has good looks which will fit any kind of desk and also the performance is good for normal jobs. So if you think that you will be not playing high-en items (such as HD movies or games) then don’t hesitate to buy this PC. This will save your money also with a good performance in return!
