Motorola Droid 2 Global Review
The Motorola Droid 2 Global is one of the best premier business phones from Verizon mobile. If you are a corporate and your company doesn’t allows you to get a Blackberry then you can go for it. This Droid 2 Global contains lots of mind blowing features with a 1.2 GHz rocking fast processor! Yes, this mobile phone has a 1.2 GHz processor and maximum storage capacity of 40 GB! Now imagine the features… :)
Well, you don’t have to imagine the features, because I’m going to tell you everything! ;)
Motorola Droid 2 Global is nothing but an upgradation of Motorola Droid X mobiles. In one of releasing Droid X, Motorola introduced this new model of Droid. Not only global roaming feature, this mobile also contains of a faster processor, bigger QWERTY keyboard, good sensitive touchscreen and of course the latest Android processor. Especially the keyboard of D2G is more efficient than other QWERTY keyboards in size. You are getting all these features at just $200 with a two year contract.
Motorola D2G is little clunky and boxy, the original Droid wasn't much of a stunner in the looks department, but the Motorola Droid 2 reveals a more refined design. Sporting rounder, more-tapered edges, the Droid 2 doesn't have such an abrupt look, and the silver-and-blue color combo is not only attractive but also makes the smartphone stand out in a crowd. It's still a handful; the handset measures 4.58 inches tall by 2.38 inches wide by 0.54 inch thick, but compared with the Droid X and HTC Evo 4G, the Droid 2 actually feels small. It's slightly heavy at 5.96 ounces, but it's a solid handset and has a high-quality construction. On the front of D2G you've got the same 3.7-inch, WVGA (480x854 pixels) capacitive touch screen. Though it’s not too big than other smartphones but it’s quite good, so if you need some bigger look in your pictures or whatever, the display offers pinch-to-zoom support and a built-in accelerometer. Both functions work smoothly and quickly.
The screen will also automatically go into landscape mode when you slide the phone open. The buttons are flat, and there's the D-pad on the right side that makes it incredibly awkward to use the keyboard. Unlike other QWERTY keypads, the buttons have a slight bump to them, so they're easier to press. So, you will feel more comfort when typing in this keypad. Except this nice keypad, D2G keeps the touch-sensitive Android shortcuts below the display: menu, home, back, and search. So, you are able to use all the shortcuts without sliding the keypad.
The Motorola Droid 2 Global is the first smartphone running Android 2.2 out of the box. This means in addition to the Android staples we've come to expect, you're now getting Flash Player 10.1, voice dialing over Bluetooth, camera improvements, and more. Like other Android phones, the Droid 2 Global allows you to sync multiple e-mail accounts to the phone, including Gmail, POP3, IMAP, and Exchange, as well as social-networking sites. When you first boot up the phone, you'll have the option to add all your various accounts (you can also add them later if you wish), which is usually a matter of entering your log-in ID and password. If you're syncing up your corporate e-mail, you'll need additional information like your server address.
The specs and resulting performance simply cannot be beat yet, and Motorola showed that it has all its ducks in a row in terms of included hardware. Sadly, the company fell short in the phone’s design. While the keyboard will work just fine for most, I had a difficult time using it. But more importantly, the slider mechanism was extremely resistant to people opening it, the phone felt boxy and clunky. Also the phone doesn’t have a front camera, which is most essential in these 3G and 4G networks. You will be unable to make a video call freely using D2G. Also it has no HDMI port, so you will be unable to use its features. Without this lacks, D2G is rocking. This phone is capable of creating own Wi-Fi network, so you can provide your friends a small Wi-Fi network using your mobile, that’s great! So I have explained everything (as far I know) about D2G and hope this will fit you except that Front Camera! :(
