Bing and Google have confirmed (via an excellent interview by Danny Sullivan) that links shared through Twitter and Facebook have a direct impact on rankings.

SEO people always suspected this but now it is officially confirmed and is a step forward to social media marketing.

Hi sabbir thanks for the nice info. But the links provided by them are maximum nofollow. So how they can have effect in search engine ranking.

No follow is for webmasters to use if they don't want any sites to not give any benefits for linking but if Google want's they can have the nofollow links from twitter to be treated differently as well.

Also here search engines are not talking about only links but presence in social media and so you never know what can be taken as presence but yes it is more than 0

well i once managed to rank on the first page of google with my twitter account so i guess that it worth it to build links to your twitter url.
