Why do you choose Google?
 

Maybe being the first Seach engine is one of the factor ,but there must be other things make us keep on using it,but not turn to use other SEs .Talk about what you think.

May be the word "publish " is not accurate. I mean add a open source software project into a form in this website for downloading and improving the code.

We have sourceforge.net and Google code and so I don't think we need to re-invent the wheel.

At first people chose it because it provided more relevant results, now it just dominates

i would not say that is true now, yahoo and bing give good relevant results also.
