November 1971 saw the launch of the world's first word processor, the Wang 1200.

A very primitive machine, it was soon outdated by IBM's MTST then the Xerox 800.

Wang did bounce back and in 1976 introduced the Wang Computer System with on screen text editing for a mere $30,000.00 USD.

We thought we'd throw in a famous quote by Bill Gates that seems to be an urban legend:

"640K ought to be enough for anybody."
Bill Gates, 1981

Here's another Bill Gates quote:

"I've said some stupid things and some wrong things, but not that. No one involved in computers would ever say that a certain amount of memory is enough ..... But even 32 bits of address space won't prove adequate as times goes on ..... Meanwhile, I keep bumping into that silly quotation attributed to me that says 640 k of memory is enough. "
Bill Gates
