Hey I'm just wondering wut is a good version of linux i should run on my old computer I know a couple liek ubuntu and others thanks.

ok I'm going to try out a couple of these just 1 other question when I burn the iso image to a disk will I have to run when I start my computer up or when xp is already running and I just pop in the disk ?

Burn the Ubuntu image on a disk and boot from it.

I don't agree.

Ubuntu is good for beginner to intermediate linux users.
Power users will prefer Gentoo or Slackware.
Gentoo is best for geeks (like me)! :)

If you are a CSE student, you should probably go for Gentoo, as you can compile it from source.

I personally prefer Free BSD for power users! Ubuntu is the best when it comes to ease of use. At work I work on CentOS.
