Opening and reading from a parallel port
 

I have the code to open a serial port using C++ but i was wondering if it would be better to send info via parallel port? Can someone please guide me. I am sending information from a microcontroller and i was able to see it with the serial port code, but it is kind of slow...is there a code for the parallel port?
