How do I bypass firewall?
Hello guys! I have a serious question!

I use Putty to browse Internet Explorer forwarding 8080 port. But I can't download

video files and some others. Cause this downloading program does not have proxy

option like eDonkey and uTorrent. I know that this program transfers data through

5501~5504 ports. Server administrators of my working place blocked that ports.

So....How do I bypass firewall to use that program? TT Please help me guys!!!!!!

Re: How do I bypass firewall?
Um, you don't. That's the point of a firewall. And you put your job in danger if you start hacking at work, because the chances are that they will monitor the traffic and when they see an increase in video downloads heading in your direction they'll (a) just block it and/or (b) report you for misuse of company resources, and the more you bypass the firewall and create work for them the more likely you make b to come true (and the less trustworthy you make yourself appear, so even if you don't get fired your reputation at work will be tarnished for some years). So the best bet is to download the videos etc at home and just use your work computer for work.

The good thing about bittorrent is that it doesn't matter too much if you have a slow link; just set stuff going and eventually it will arrive, if you leave your computer on all the time of course. Even throttled at 15Kb/s I can download far more stuff than I can possibly watch.

Re: How do I bypass firewall?
I agree with xpi0t0s. Bypassing a school firewall is one thing, but bypassing a workplace firewall could get you into trouble because:
a) They are paying you for your time, not vice versa
b) Workplace admins are much more likely to monitor their their network and pay attention to what's going on than school admins.
c) Bypassing a school firewall would only get you into a bit of trouble, if any. Bypassing restrictions on company resources could cost you your job.
If you really want to watch the videos at work, consider downloading them at home and watching them over vnc or remote desktop. That way all the traffic just looks like a remote desktop session but you still get to see your videos. Although if you watch regularly, they may wonder why you need to access your home computer so much (maybe you're copying over company files?, etc).
