Linux password cracking
I got the password file named 'shadow' from /etc/ folder. I dont know how to decrypt that. In What way they are encrypted??

Linux usually uses SHA-1 or SHA-2 if I am not mistaken....

how to decrypt it. and i think the shadow file is not in the standard format like a 'SAM' file. will cain & abel has SHA-1 or 2 decrypter

Yes cain has that. try to use Cain to decrypt it.

The shadow file is not in a standard format. C&B says it's not a valid file.

If JTR can't decrypt it then unfortunately I don't know, if it does not work then it be nice if you let me know how you did it once you find a way that works.
