House automation through mobile phones using ASP.NET and VB.NET

I am new to webprogramming, Can any one please guide me to connect ASP.NET( client) to VB.NET (server) as i am trying to develop a house automation sytem as i am tryng to make my client on mobile phone with the ASP.NET connected with the web server based on VB.NET to build an house automation sytem through cell phone.One thing more i want to know that whether there is poosibility of doin socket programming between client based on ASP.NET and server based on VB.NET as i don have any knowledge about .NET programming..looking forward for your reply :worried:
