USB Device Insertion Hangs the system

I have a strange problem, Whenever I insert USB device into my system , the computer starts responding, It actually freezes, I tried to repair my OS as well but nothing is working so far.
i am using WinXP Professional SP2

Get SP3 and see if that fixes the problem...
