At first, check your start up programs!
Quote:
Start -> Run -> "msconfig" <enter> -> startup
If there exists some unwanted programs, which is accessing your registry, then uncheck that and restart your PC. If you are confused, then post a screen shot of your startup programs list.

Hi.

msconfig does not show all possible startup program.

I recommend you download SpyBot Search and Destroy from Safer Networking.

There is a very nice tool included that shows all startup programs, what they do and you can disable the ones you don't like.

Alternatively, open start -> run -> regedit and browse to HKey_Local_Machine, Software, Microsoft, Windows, Current Version, Run or RunServices.

You can remove entries from here, but BE WARNED, if you are unsure of what to remove, DO NOT REMOVE something! You can seriously damage your windows installation if you delete things from anywhere else in the registry.

Best regards

Well done!

Now, you really have to start looking at Linux as well, just in-case you are fed-up with Windows hassles.
