Hi there, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the HP ProLogic DL380 G6 storage server. Our IT manager would like to know if it is proprietary, and thus will only work with HP SFF SAS/SATA HDD's, or if it will also work with more generic/universal ones as well?

    Thanks in advance,

    Carlo

We have made it work with non proprietary SATA drives, but there is a risk of loosing HP support over it.

Thanks so much! Thats what we needed to know. We've tried contacting HP but they refused to say either way. Our new IT director (literally he just started 2.5 days ago lol) has a strangle hold on expenses. We had ordered the server prior to him coming in, but now all purchases have to be aproved through him. We want to be able to tell him that we "COULD" potentially buy cheaper drives, but we'll loose the HP support if we do so - or we could spend a bit more money, get the HP drives, and retain our warranty. Either choice will be his and our back sides can be covered LOL
