I am little confused about external linking. Is this good or not? If yes then please let me know that why we should do that?

May be you mean backlinks? If yes, so the rule is the same as for the reciprical ones. Relevant sites with good rating.

If you mean, liking to say Google for the sake of linking to them, i'm not sure that wouldn't hurt you more then help. But if you are on the subject of Google and it's relevant to the subject you're discussing, that might be seen to a human from Google that you do link out to sites that can further the conversion.

i don't think quality external links can be harmful but ya still it should not be in excessive amount
