Magento or opencart. My personal choice would be Magento but if you want easy customization option then you should opt for opencart.

You can use Wordpress with woocommerce for a small ecommerce site. But WP or Joomla is not especially maded for this.
So it's better to use Magento, Demandware or OpenCart.

You can use Magento. It is a great software for CMS development. It is very popular for eCommerce development. It provides more security for the applications.

In 2016, 16000 WordPress websites are hacked by the hackers. And the developers started to investigate all the hacked websites and they found that among all these websites that were hacked, most of them were developed in word press. Because most of these websites were using insecure plugins. So, if you want to use word-press for you application development then make sure that you do not use any insecure plugins.

Agree with the previous replies. You can go with the WordPress if your e-commerce site scope is limited. You will find many free themes here.

Magento is always best option as it's very secure CMS. It's quite complex to use but very secure. Once you will get idea, how to manage it then it's easy for you.

Opencart. Prestashop, Joomla are the other options open for you. Choice is yours! :)
