    x = 12
    y = 9

    x-y = 3
    x+y = 21
    xy = 108

    so x-y:x+y:xy => 1:7:36

    From the question we can say,

    x-y x+y xy
    --- = ---- = ---- = r
    1 7 36

    From this we get three equations,

    x - y = r
    x + y = 7r
    xy = 36r

    By solving these equations, we get the value of r=3, x=12, and y=9.

    In the previous post, the first equation should be like this:

    [(x-y)/1] = [(x+y)/7] = [(xy)/36] = r

    It didn't display correctly, so I am reposting that equation here.
