    Community,

I am a C/C++ software designer. I know how to use OpenGL, the Windows API, and a little bit of Nvidia's physics engine, PhysX. As well as these things, I also know a little bit of PERL, PHP, CSS, and HTML. If anybody has a reasonable assignment for me (I'm not going to go program somebody's game), please email me or post here. I also am willing to teach anybody if they post a question or a topic which they want me to teach. Note that I am not very good at GLSL (the GL shading language) because the hardware pipeline is much faster, and I prefer to use it. Also, I myself am just learning PhysX, which is hard, as there are no books out on it yet, so don't ask me about that either.

    Hi and welcome.

Watch out for people posting homework assignments. It's quite common. Their idea is that you do the work for free, and they get the grade.

Except for one problem: when they are in an exam and can't access the web, they have no clue where to start and fail the exam, so it doesn't do anyone any good to do their coursework for them no matter how close their deadline is.

I also didn't know you had plans for wife PROGRAMMING and girlfriend PROGRAMMING, or interracial PROGRAMMING stuff; didn't even know there were such TYPES OF PROGRAMMING as that.

My guess is that Stevo is looking for pr0n and being hopeless at searching, or at least hopeless at having a clue what forum he's using. Or maybe he's just a spammer.

    Hi Nicholas,

I'm extremely new to the idea of programming but I have an idea for some software. Where would you suggest that I go to help me learn C++ or at least the concepts behind it? I need to create a graphic equalizer, like what you see in the media players, with a capability to recognize text. Any ideas?

I will not code this for you, as it sounds like an assignment, and you need to learn. I will, however, give you a good approach.
A word is made up of 4 hex characters. Each hex character has 4 binary values that represent it.

    To convert HEX to DECIMAL:

    1) reverse the order of the digits in the hex word (1521 becomes 1251, for example)
    2) multiply the current digit by n to the power of 16, where n starts at 0 and ends at 3 (it is incremented with each digit processed)

Here is the step worked out for further detail:

    1 * (16^0)
    2 * (16^1)
    5 * (16^2)
    1 * (16^3)

    3) add the results of your multiplication together -- you should have the decimal number

Note that I am not directly telling you how to complete this task, as I gave you Hex to Decimal, and you need Hex to Binary and Binary to decimal.

With what I told you, this should be easy.

    Good Luck,
    rothn
