Apple is most admired company in the world due to its innovations in computer and mobile Technology. Apple designers and engineers work together through every stage of product Development. It’s touch technology is so accurate that sometimes I feel that why only Apple has been able to achieve this? there are many in the competition. Apple’s Iproducts (Iphone, Ipad and IPod) are so popular around the world that people are bound to purchase such a beautiful devices even the price is high. But purchasing an Iproduct doesn’t give you a license to do anything with your device. Its fate is dictated by Apple. They control what kind of apps you install on your device, which of the hardware functions you can exploit to their full potential, and which carrier you can use your IPhone with. Apple has its own application store to purchase applications for your device. Third party apps which are not approved by Apple cannot be installed into the devices. Such restrictions were not acceptable to the users and so the concept of "Jailbreaking" arises.

In simple language I can say that Jailbreak is the process of hacking an IPhone/Ipad/Ipod touch to free it from Apple restrictions.

When To Jailbreak Your Iphone/Ipad/IPod touch

Want to be Free From Restrictions

Jailbreaking frees from carrier locked restriction. One can access T-Mobile GSM network instead of AT & T and Vodafone instead of Airtel. You can choose your own carrier.

From applications point of view, jailbreaked Iproducts can be customized freely with the cool and quirky apps available in Cydia store. Cydia is an application installed when you jailbreak your iOS (OS used in Iproducts) device that provides access to third-party applications not submitted to/approved by Apple.

    Want more value for money

Apple Iproducts are expensive. You gave Apple money they asked and they gave you an iPhone/iPod. It is officially yours and you can do whatever you want with it. Because it is yours now, you bought it, you have the right to do whatever. So it’s your right that

you install and try all kinds of applications available. Jailbreak your Iproducts to utilize it fully.

Understand that it is fully reversible

If you’re scared of the consequences of jailbreaking your iPhone/Ipad/Ipod Touch jailbreaking is fully reversible. Just connect your device to your computer, sync, and then press Restore in iTunes.

When Not To Jailbreak Your Iphone/Ipad/IPod touch

If you run the risk Of bricking

If you Jailbreak then you may run the risk of experiencing "bricking". Bricking makes your iphone/ipod touch unusable and you need to wipe everything and restore to get back your device in working condition.

    If Your Iphone/Ipad/Ipod warranty Voids

Though jailbreaking has been made legal, Apple doesn’t take any responsibility of jailbreaked devices. Apple States:-

"It is also important to note that unauthorized modification of the iOS is a violation of the iPhone end-user license agreement and because of this, Apple may deny service for an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch that has installed any unauthorized software."

Becomes Less Stable And Full Of Bugs

There’s no guarantee that apps offered via Cydia will be as stable. So the device might slow down or malfunction. Even if the third party applications install one can’t expect the applications bug free.

If Your battery life could suffer

One reason which I can put forward for why Apple has not made the devices multitasking is to increase the battery life. Third party applications care little about how much Battery should they pull from IOS. As a result battery life could suffer. On top of that if you make the device multitasking then the performance is likely to degrade.

    If you have security threats

When you jailbreak your device its more accessible from the outside than it once was. The viruses ever reported have spread across iPhones that have been Jailbroken.

I believe that Apple would come up with some solutions so that users don’t have to jailbreak their devices. Give your views on it.

I'm too afraid to jailbreak anything. I already have a hard enough time getting them to cover things on the warranty. That is my main concern.
